SUPER Size Me!

Hey-O!

So occasionally I get struck with the desire to draw really obese superheroes. I have done this on multiple occasions, and they are super fun to draw.

See what I did there. 'Super' fun.

Anyway, with the success of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, I made a drawing of Cap and his second unofficial partner, Falcon!

So there ya go. I always say this, but I fully intend on making more of these.

SO if you have a superhero you'd like to see overweight, let me know, and I'll see what I can do!

Just Some Pages

Hey bloggers,

Just as a little update, here are some pages I am working on for commission. It'll be a small 6 page excerpt from a larger story. I'm inking it with a bit more 'grit' and 'mess' than I usually ink with. It's pretty fun to break out of the really clean stuff I'm typically used to.

Just for Funsies

Da-Da-Dynamic Duos!

Oh my dear bloggers,

I am terribly sorry that I haven't posted in months. Literally. Months.

And there is so much to catch up on! The biggest thing by far is that I am now engaged to the woman of my dreams! She's pretty amazing, and I pulled some fun pieces of art for her for her proposal.

I decided to make her a small book that was centered all around "Dynamic Duos" and I illustrated 4 duos that are famous in the Disney world, and 4 duos in the comic book world. And they were super fun to draw! Especially the Disney stuff!

So I will start off with the disney ones that were in the book, not necessarily in order, but the ones I like the most to the least!

I absolutely love this picture. 

It's just adorable in all the right ways. 

*ahem* Moving on.

This was a very close second.

 Mostly because I have always wanted to

 do a Woody and Buzz drawing, 

and this was the perfect excuse for one.

Now this one was just straight up fun to draw. 

So much fun. 

And this one is fun, 

drawing Marlin was great, 

he has such fun contours in his face. 

And now onto the comic book drawings!

Good 'ol Captain America and Bucky.

 For obvious reasons, this was my favorite. 

Iron Man and War Machine was 

also super fun to draw.

 Really loved this one. 

The idea of this one was more the thing

 that made me love this picture.

 Not so much the execution, but the idea.

And last but not least, Batman and Robin. 

Most people that know me know that I'm not a huge fan 

of Batsy here, but these two definitely

 made sense for the story I wrote. 

So here they are.

And those are the illustrations that I made for my wonderful bride-to-be. She loved them and has a small little book that she can show her friends how dorky and cheesy her future husband is. And I'm okay with that. 

Now I have a good couple of things that I have to post up. but I don't want to overload this post with art, so I shall return with more comic pages and more fun artsy fartsy pieces! Talk to you later blogdience!

The Assemblers!

Howdy blog enthusiasts!

So I have been doing a lot of work for Golem lately, I mean just look at the recent posts...there all Golem things. So as a little refresher I wanted to do something with some good ol' superheroes.

I have wanted to try out a technique that I learned from my esteemed professor and friend Dove McHargue, where you pencil an illustration, texture the board with clear gesso, and then paint on top of it and detail with pencils. So I have been wanting to try it for a long time, and I decided the other day
I would do it dagnabbit!

I was puzzled as to what I should draw for the first test run of this technique, so who did I look to in my hour of need? No other than my man CAPTAIN AMERICA! As most people who know me know I am a gigantic Cap fan, so naturally I would draw him. But I did want to draw the WWII movie version, because I really dug that costume and I thought Chris Evans was awesome. And then of course to compliment the great Cap, I had to have the not-as-good-as-Cap-great-but-still-really-great Iron Man.

The men who lead the Avengers, bicker a lot, and eventually butt heads in the Civil War, I thought it was just a good homage to these great heroes. So here it is, the Cap and Iron Man pin up!

The image gets slightly fuzzier at the bottom. 

Unfortunately this was just a tad bit larger

 than what my scanner could get. 

But you get the idea.

As I said, its acrylic and colored pencil on illustration board. I am pretty happy with the final product, I am looking forward to doing more of these in the future between my comics! Hope you all enjoyed it, let me know what you think, and if anyone would like a print of this, feel free to let me know and I'd be happy to work out a deal with you!

Slowing Life Down a Little

Hey blogdience,

So it's about that time in the quarter where schoolwork is getting somewhat straining, and motivation hits a wall.

A BIG wall.

But anyway, the best way to get my motivation back, I have to just do something for fun, for myself. But in light of the wonderful Avengers movie, I wanted to do an image as a tribute to the person I thought exceeded all my expectations.

That was Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and as the Hulk. He was incredible. ( Pun intended ) But in light of it I just did a quick work because in some way I felt like he deserved one.

Just playing around, I used Ruffalo as reference, 

but its clearly not spot on. 

Good enough for a 4 hour drawing.

Anyway, this was fun, and if you REALLY like it you will get in contact with me as make an inquiry about purchasing a print. That would certainly be nice. Anyway, take it easy bloggers!
